Thomas A. Berk, M.D., is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and glaucoma surgery. He is board-certified in both the United States and Canada, and served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University prior to joining the Georgia Center for Sight team.

Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Berk graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors from York University’s psychology program, and then obtained his MD degree from the University of Toronto. He went on to complete his residency at McGill University in Montreal serving as co-chief resident, prior to completing his complex cataract and glaucoma fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Berk is a highly experienced surgeon, particularly in the areas of novel and cutting edge micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) as well as both routine and complex cataracts. He is passionate about tailoring his surgical approach to each patient’s unique needs and goals, allowing his patients to feel a sense of participation in and ownership of their care. He has been actively engaged in research and education, having authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, and presentations at national and international meetings. 

When not working, Dr. Berk enjoys spending time with his wife and children, exploring all that our beautiful state has to offer their young family.
