Georgia Center for Sight Welcomes Dr. Thomas Berk

Georgia Center for Sight (GCS) is proud to welcome ophthalmologist Dr. Thomas Berk to our medical team. Dr. Berk is a fellowship-trained cataract and glaucoma surgeon specializing in complex cataract procedures, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and laser glaucoma treatments.
Dr. Berk earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto after graduating summa cum laude from York University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He completed his ophthalmology residency at McGill University, where he served as co-chief resident, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is board-certified in both the United States and Canada and previously served as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Emory University.
During his academic career, Dr. Berk contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, collaborated on textbook chapters and presented research at national and international ophthalmology meetings. His leadership roles include serving on the Education and Communication Committee of the American Glaucoma Society and founding multiple surgical training and education programs at Emory and McGill University.
Dr. Berk’s approach to care emphasizes individualized treatment planning, patient education and thoughtful surgical decision-making. His surgical experience in complex vision treatment and his dedication to high-quality, compassionate care will greatly benefit patients across the region.
